Originally I was just going to post a rant about photography and how it seems so often that the apparent skill of a photographer is not in the pictures they take, but the quality of the camera they used. But I can’t be bothered going in to that. For now, here’s some things that have been going on.
I have a girlfriend now. Nice girl. I’ve known her a long time and it never seemed that we’d be together, for a variety of reasons. In the end, the final hurdle was convincing myself to take the plunge and to take a risk, of sorts. Relationships are something I take pretty seriously, so let’s just say that I don’t jump in to them lightly.
I’ve ‘sort’ of got a job. It’s for a mining-related consulting firm, and while they haven’t yet found me work as a field assistant, I have been able to work for them in the capacity of a grunt. That is to say, I’ve been a body with arms and legs, helping move boxes as they transfer to a new office. Still, that has provided some level of satisfaction to me.
My mother has been away travelling through Europe, and just got back yesterday. Good to have her back, though I’ll have to adjust my living style to suit having her in the house again. On a somewhat related note, my brother and his girlfriend are moving out into a rented place soon. They’ve actually started moving stuff in, but they won’t be living there till this weekend, I believe.
I felt ripped off after buying Starcraft 2 for $88, then finding that some places are selling it at $68-$69, which is apparently actually below their cost price. Just goes to show – shop around, every-single-fucking-time.
I’ve been shopping for the family a lot – groceries and whatnot – as I’m the one with the free time. It’s been alright doing this, though I always forget to take the damn Rewards card thing.
I’ve also been cooking a lot, mainly stir-fry dishes with rice. I’ve been enjoying that though, it has been interesting seeing what works and what doesn’t. Also did a little bit of baking with my girlfriend; we made some cookies and some muffins. The cookies were much better than the muffins…
Later, Y’all.
